Day 1 Thekkady :
Thekkady, is one of India's most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries, where you can watch wildlife at close range. The vegetation, the flora and fauna and the birds of Thekkady are uniquely rich, vast and varied that it does not bear semblance to any other wildlife sanctuaries in the world. Even a casual visitor to this place will not fail to observe the special ecological pattern of Thekkady. Check in to the resort. After lunch proceed for a spice plantation visit to visit cardamom, pepper, clove plantations. Evening back to the hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2 Thekkady :
Morning proceed for a boat ride in the Periyar Lake to visit the Wildlife sanctuary. Back to the resort and overnight stay.
Day 3 Houseboat :
Morning proceed to Aleppey to board the houseboat. A houseboat is about 67 feet in length and has a width of around 13 feet in the middle. The materials that go into the making are local and ecofriendly; bamboo poles, coconut fibre, ropes, bamboo mats, carpets etc. All of them have sundeck, private balcony with comfortable chairs, kitchen and toilet with w.c. In addition there is a separate rest room for the crew. Traditional lanterns are used as lights. The crew includes a chef, and two oarsmen. The cuisine is of traditional Kerala flavour. Palm fringed narrow canals winding through the vast expanse of paddy fields and the neat tiny hamlets lined up along either side of the canals are panoramic sight one can never forget. Check into the house boat, on the way watch Kerala typical villages, Coir making, Paddy fields etc. Enjoy the serene backwaters viewing the activities in the local villages on either side of the canals. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 Kumarakom :
After breakfast the houseboat will drop you at a beautiful backwater resort at Kumarakom. The village of Kumarakom is a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake, and is part of the Kuttanad region. The bird sanctuary here, which is spread across 14 acres is a favourite haunt of migratory birds and an ornithologist's paradise. Egrets, darters, herons, teal, waterfowl, cuckoo, wild duck and migratory birds like the Siberian stork that live here in flocks are a fascination for visitors. The best way to watch the birds of the Kumarakom sanctuary is a boat trip round the islands. Check in to the resort. Evening visit the bird sanctuary. Overnight stay at the resort.
